Undergraduate Student MCard Pick Up Information – Ann Arbor

MCard Pick Up Information
Contact MCard Program

Your MCard is your official University of Michigan ID. You’ll use it to access buildings, residence halls, dining plans, campus services, and more — so be sure to pick yours up during Orientation.

If you have submitted your MCard photo, your card will be ready for pickup on campus later this summer. Details about card distribution events will be sent to your @umich.edu email address.

When to Get Your MCard

  • If you submit your photo at least two weeks before your on-campus Orientation, your MCard will be ready for pickup at your Orientation session.
  • You can find more details about Orientation on the Office of New Student Programs website.
  • Exception: If you are a nursing student, your MCard will not be distributed at Orientation. Instead, your card will be issued through your program at a separate time and location. Please follow the instructions provided directly by your school or program.

Living on campus?

If your Move-In date is before your Orientation, your MCard will be available at Move-In so you can access your residence hall.

Caution

Important Information

  • Undergraduate MCards cannot be picked up before Orientation or Move-In (whichever comes first).
    • If you do not pick up your MCard at Orientation, it will be stored securely off-campus and will not be available for pick up again until the week before the fall term begins.
  • To receive your MCard, you must present a physical government-issued photo ID.
    • Without a physical ID, your MCard cannot be issued.
    • Digital copies or photos of IDs cannot be accepted.

Acceptable government-issued IDs must be unexpired, valid, and contain a photo, name, date of birth, and signature. Primary examples include a state-issued driver’s license, U.S. Passport, Military ID, Permanent Resident Card, or a Tribal ID card.

Plan Ahead

Submit your photo early and plan to pick up your MCard during Orientation so you’re ready to access everything Michigan has to offer.
